The Renaissance International School

Kindergarten, Elementary & Middle School Admission

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in The Renaissance International School!

We are a diverse community of students, their families, and staff. We work closely with parents and believe in communication and collaboration to serve the child's best interests. We offer rolling admissions depending on availability. Our admission process aims to inform you about our program and ensure a good match between your family's goals for your children and our school.

We look forward to meeting you and getting to know your family throughout the admissions process.

  • Kindergarten: 5 years of age on or before September 1.
  • Elementary: 6 - 12 years
  • Middle School: 13 + years

The steps in the admission process include the following:

1.

Mandatory School Tour

We require you to participate in our comprehensive school tour that provides potential families with the information needed to make an informed decision. The school tour is restricted to adults and can extend for about two hours. During the visit, you will have an opportunity to hear about the philosophy and curriculum, observe classrooms, learn about our expectations, ask questions about our program, and receive an enrollment application. In addition, you can schedule an appointment with our office to observe a classroom after completing the tour.

The Kindergarten Program is a component of the Primary Preschool program which are multi-age classrooms. We also offer Elementary and Middle School programs.

2.

Submit Application

After the tour, parents receive an Enrollment Application. Please complete the enrollment information and submit a non-refundable application fee ($100) to the school office. Please note that an application does not guarantee a spot in our program.

For students coming from another school, we request recommendation letters from the student's teachers. We will also need the student's full transcript and any test scores available for students applying to our Elementary (ages 6 - 12 years) and Middle School (ages 13 - 15+) programs.

3.

Schedule a Visit

As part of the admission process, your student must attend our school for two full school days. Their attendance allows us to evaluate the student for their placement within the program. To be considered a kindergartner, the student has to be five years old by August 31st.

4.

Meeting with Leadership

Our office will contact you to schedule an appointment with a member of the Leadership Teaml. This adults-only meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know your family and for you to share your goals and get answers to any additional questions you may have. Please allow 1.5 hours for the meeting.

5.

Decision Notifications

(If Applying for the Following Year)

We receive most applications for the next academic year between October and February, and we share decisions in mid-March. After carefully considering each application, we develop a waiting list when classrooms are full. Late applications and mid-year admissions are dependent on availability.

6.

Commitment Deadline

Upon acceptance, you will receive an enrollment packet and a confirmation of your child's starting date. To secure placement for your child, please ensure that you submit a signed parent agreement and remit all initial fees by the due date included in the contract.

If you have any questions regarding admissions, please feel free to call our office at 510−531−8566 to speak with the Admissions Coordinator. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you soon.

“Starting in Lower Elementary, the research projects were phenomenal. It was amazing to watch my children progress in their research interest and abilities from Lower Elementary to Middle School. Because of her project work at TRIS, my high schooler has been able to approach research papers and assignments with a sense of ease. She has the foundation for how to approach her research and maintain her pace through completion.”

“One of the things I love about TRIS is the global community. I lived overseas for my early adolescent years and -while some of that was hard- it made me a global citizen, seeing the world from a larger perspective. I absolutely loved that my daughter had teachers from so many different countries. She was able to travel with TRIS in Elementary and Middle School, which was also a gift that I believe will always enhance her perspective in her life."
