Parent Education

Raising children is joyful and rewarding but challenging along the way. Our Parent Education Workshops help you understand and navigate the various stages with knowledge, tools, and strategies that bear positive long-term results.

We strive to create a positive and supportive environment for our children to thrive. However, not knowing what to do when faced with challenges can often leave us feeling helpless. TRIS teams with professionals to support, educate, empower, and inform our parents and educators and share strategies and practices that are effective, consistent, tried, and tested over the years.

Redirecting Children's Behavior

'Redirecting Children's Behavior' is an 8-week hands-on workshop for adults (Educators, Parents, Guardians, etc.) responsible for guiding, raising, and nurturing children. Whatever your role in a young child's life, this workshop will help you navigate the challenges that arrive with every developmental stage. The workshop aims to help you discover how to provide children, from toddlers to teens, the appropriate physical, emotional, and social support they need as they grow so that the young child today transforms into a well-adjusted, happy, independent, and responsible adult.

Leslie Hites conducts the workshop and shares her knowledge, wisdom, and proven strategies amassed over 30 years in Education as a founder and educator at TRIS, a parent educator, coach, a parent educator trainer, and the parent of six children. Workshops comprise 2.5-hour sessions over eight weeks. She hosts two workshops in the academic year. The first targets the 0-6 years, and the second the 6+ years.

Exploring Neurodiversity

We recently hosted MarRem Remington, LMFT, on campus. MarRem completed an Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship from Harvard Medical School in partnership with Children's Hospital Boston and Napa County Health and Human Services. She has a Master's in Counseling from John F. Kennedy University and a Master's in Education specializing in Special Education from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo.

MarRem has over two decades of experience in Education. She developed the Integrated NeuroSensory Processing® approach tailored for those wired differently to help individuals recognize their strengths and unique learning styles. Using her expertise in Special Education, she shared her knowledge and strategies with our parents and educators for sensory integration, addressing processing issues, enhancing social skills, facilitating play, and empowering individuals with unique learning styles to shift from feeling overwhelmed and despair to confidence, clarity, and connection.
