The Renaissance International School (TRIS), an independent non-sectarian coeducational Montessori school, was founded in 1992 to celebrate the human spirit.
During the Renaissance, creativity and imagination flourished. Great minds explored new pathways of thought, invented new tools, and produced timeless works of art. In 1992, I founded The Renaissance International School (TRIS), an independent non-sectarian coeducational Montessori school, formerly known as A Child’s World Montessori School, in celebration of the human spirit.
We offer students, ranging from toddlers through 9th grade, an international and multidisciplinary education based on the research and resulting philosophies of Maria Montessori and Zoltán Kodály. Our program nurtures children’s creativity and curiosity, teaches timeless values, and seek to awaken each child’s full potential as a human being.
We are a three-language immersion Montessori program with a diverse faculty and student community. Our native-speaking faculty immerse students in English, Spanish, and French during their school day. In addition to the traditional Montessori curriculum and complete language immersion, we are unique in providing well-established comprehensive music and arts programs.
In our community of joyful learners, we respect the individuality and uniqueness of each student and meet their needs with sensitivity, respect, creativity, and flexibility. Our students, ranging in age from 2 to 15 years, thrive in the warm, supportive, and nurturing environment as happy, confident, capable individuals and emerging contributing members of society. We teach them
how to learn, a skill that will serve them through life. We cultivate independence, instill a love of learning, nurture curiosity, and encourage inventive problem-solving and dedication to the pursuit of excellence.
We take pride in our friendly, collaborative, and supportive community of staff and parents who share a commitment to our students and a passion for high-quality and well-rounded education. We welcome all families and work closely with parents to foster our view of the school as an extension of the home.
Please join us for an introductory school tour (adults only and approximately two hours) to learn more about our school and the program. We look forward to your visit.
Sincerely,
Leslie Hites

“TRIS is a phenomenal school. We were initially drawn to the strong language immersion at TRIS, which has indeed been incredible. Each primary class has native Spanish or French guides and an English-speaking guide, while all three languages are combined at the elementary level. We love that the three languages, while themselves studied, are also mediums of instruction in math, science, cooking... or whatever. The language used simply depends on the guide or assistant who is leading a lesson.
Regarding academics, we love the Montessori materials, especially in math, which breed concrete understanding and provide a rich foundation for later advanced math. TRIS is a genuinely trilingual environment, and it really shows in the kids. TRIS also has a very strong visual art and music program, as well as an international travel component at the elementary level.
TRIS focuses first and foremost on the well-being of the children. It is a small school and community and I feel it is important to be engaged and active to understand what is happening in the classroom and in children's learning.”
