We take pride in our multilingualism and multiculturalism at The Renaissance International School. Our goal is to develop a global perspective, and the study of history and world cultures forms the cornerstone of our curriculum. We teach history and world cultures from age three through elementary school.
At the Primary level, we bring world cultures to the child;
At the Elementary level, we provide the opportunity for the child to travel internationally and share an experience with their peers that allows them to witness, connect, and engage and collaborate with different cultures;
The International Cultural Travel Program provides Elementary students an opportunity to extend their cultural literacy outside of the school environment. Our students enjoy learning multiple languages, and this is accompanied by a yearning to continue their study of history and cultural geography, promoting an international understanding and a sense of world citizenship. The program offer an opportunity to the students to:
Elementary students have traveled to places such as Oaxaca, México, Hungary, and the Yucatán Peninsula in México, to name a few.
As part of their well-rounded, comprehensive, and integrated education, elementary students use their knowledge of geography, social studies, and language arts to participate in a year-long Montessori Model UN program to find solutions to current world issues using the format of the United Nations. Finding solutions requires a collaborative effort to problem-solve these real global issues. The year-long effort culminates in attending a conference as delegates to present their solutions and interact with peers from different countries.
“TRIS is an extraordinary opportunity. I value so many of the experiences that my children had as students at the school. They learned a lot about being contributing members of a worldwide community. This openness is reflected in how they relate and receive people around them. In communities outside of TRIS, my children have been recognized for their inclusivity and ability to meet others where they are. I attribute a lot of their perspectives to learning about the world and the people in it to their studies and experiences at TRIS.”
“One of the things I love about TRIS is the global community. I lived overseas for my early adolescent years and -while some of that was hard- it made me a global citizen, seeing the world from a larger perspective. I absolutely loved that my daughter had teachers from so many different countries. She was able to travel with TRIS in Elementary and Middle School, which was also a gift that I believe will always enhance her perspective in her life."
