Curriculum

We follow the whole-child and a self-paced educational approach based on the Montessori philosophy. We attend to the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development by creating an environment where each child is respected, nurtured, supported, and prepared for life.

Our course of study includes the traditional individualized Montessori curriculum and goes beyond by providing a comprehensive and well-established music, arts, and language immersion program. We guide students on how to think, do their research, express themselves well in writing and speech, and put their knowledge to practical application.

Our graduates attend top public and private schools including Head Royce, The College Preparatory School, Bishop O'Dowd, Bentley School, Lick-Wilmerding, and Oakland Tech.

“As a TRIS parent, the teachers in this community are amazing and they are what keep us at TRIS. They are always willing to listen and brainstorm ideas when things are/aren’t working with my children. Additionally, the community of parents is amazing. We are here to support one another and welcome new parents to TRIS. TRIS has had its bumps in the road (like all schools) and when this happens we have seen a structured approach to resolution and the community comes together to move forward.”

M. S.

“The TRIS parent community was strong, and continues to be as our kids finish high school. The roots go deep. :) I very much loved the diverse backgrounds of the teachers my daughter had, and was happy she was with them for more than a year like in a traditional classroom. The dedication the teachers had for their students, in all classrooms my child was in, was amazing. "
